The Communication Reset

- Professional
- £20.00
- Course 1 of 6
- Certificate on completion
How conversations break down under pressure, and how to reset them: recognising the trigger, holding two honest versions of the same memory, slowing the exchange down, and rebuilding trust afterwards.
About this course
A five-lesson practitioner course on communication under pressure. It covers recognising the moment a conversation turns, why two people remember the same exchange differently, how to slow an escalating exchange down rather than win it, how the story we tell ourselves shapes what we hear, and how to rebuild a relationship after communication has broken down. Foundational for every other course in the AURIS Practitioner Certification.
Course curriculum
5 lessons. The lesson content itself opens once you start the course.
Lesson 1 · about 20 minutes
Recognising the Trigger
This lesson is about recognising the moment before an argument even starts, not the shouting, but what comes just before it.
- Notice your own earliest physical signs of communication overload
- Understand what flooding is and why it stops a conversation working
Lesson 2 · about 20 minutes
Two People, Two Memories
This lesson is about how two people can leave the exact same conversation with two genuinely different memories of it.
- Understand why two sincere people remember the same conversation differently
- Tell the difference between a solvable problem and a perpetual one
Lesson 3 · about 20 minutes
Slowing It Down
This lesson is about the single most practical tool in the whole course: knowing when, and how, to pause.
- Know when to pause a conversation rather than push through it
- Have your own pause phrase ready before you need it
Lesson 4 · about 20 minutes
The Story You're Telling Yourself
This lesson is about the difference between what actually happened, and the story we build on top of it.
- Separate a plain observation from the story built on top of it
- Notice negative sentiment override in your closest relationships
Lesson 5 · about 20 minutes
Building It Back
This lesson is about the unglamorous, ordinary work of actually rebuilding trust over time.
- Use small repair attempts before tension spirals
- Set up a short, honest weekly check-in that you will actually keep
