Working with AURIS Institute.

AURIS is a small team doing careful work. We would rather tell you exactly what exists than advertise a role we cannot offer, so this page lists the open vacancies first and the roles we recruit into underneath.

There is no salaried vacancy open at AURIS Institute right now. When one opens it will appear here with the job title, where it is based, what it pays and the closing date. Nothing else will be listed as a vacancy.

The roles below are open on a rolling basis, and we do read every expression of interest.

The roles we recruit into

Each of these exists in the Institute today. Some are paid per piece of work, one is voluntary, and one is a contribution to the research rather than a job. Every entry says which it is.

AURIS Practitioner

Based:
You choose: online, in person, or both
Basis:
Self-employed, after completing the Practitioner Programme

Practitioners use the AURIS framework with individuals and groups, and appear in the AURIS practitioner directory once their training, insurance and registration are in place. Practitioners set their own rates and their own delivery mode.

What we ask

  • Completion of the six-course Practitioner Programme, which is in review and not on sale at the moment
  • Professional registration and current insurance before any client work
  • Lived or professional experience of identity change, in service or in another demanding role

Assessor

Based:
Remote
Basis:
Paid per assessment

Assessors mark practitioner assessments and written submissions, give written feedback, and decide whether a submission is competent, needs revision or is not yet competent. Every certificate depends on this work being done carefully.

What we ask

  • Assessment or teaching experience at level 3 or above
  • Willingness to write feedback a learner can act on, not just a grade
  • Availability for a predictable number of submissions each month

Supervisor

Based:
Remote, with occasional in-person sessions
Basis:
Paid per session

Supervisors support practitioners in their first year of practice, review their development records, and hold the line on safe practice and scope. Supervision is a requirement of the practitioner tiers, not an optional extra.

What we ask

  • A recognised supervision qualification or substantial supervisory experience
  • Experience of supporting people through role and identity change
  • Comfort raising concerns early and in writing

Community moderator

Based:
Remote
Basis:
Voluntary, with expenses covered

Moderators keep the learner community safe: reading posts and replies, acting on reports, and stepping in when a conversation moves from difficult to harmful. It is a small number of hours, spread across the week.

What we ask

  • Experience of moderating or facilitating a peer group
  • Steadiness under pressure and a light touch
  • Agreement to the AURIS community code before starting

Research contributor

Based:
Remote, interviews arranged around you
Basis:
Unpaid contribution to the research programme

Contributors take part in the interview programme behind AURIS, or help code and check what interviews show. Nothing is published from an interview without consent, and no participant is named.

What we ask

  • Direct experience of leaving a defining role, or research experience in a related field
  • Willingness to be recorded under the AURIS research consent terms
  • No requirement to have worked in research before

How to apply

  1. 1. Email us and name the role. Write to enquiries@aurisidentity.com with the role you are interested in and where you are based.
  2. 2. Tell us about you in your own words. A CV is welcome but not required. A few paragraphs about the work you have done, and why identity after a defining role matters to you, tells us more.
  3. 3. We reply either way. You will hear back from a person, usually within ten working days. If there is nothing suitable we will say so, and ask whether you want us to come back to you when there is.
