Emotional Regulation

You don’t need to stop life’s storms.

By the end you will be able to notice a reaction as it rises and use a practical method to stay steady through it.

Part of the AURIS approach to identity, stability and human development.

  • Applied
  • £10.00
  • Certificate on completion
  • About 90 minutes

You need to learn how to remain steady while they pass. Discover practical tools to better understand and manage your emotional responses.

£10.00 one-off payment, lifetime access

  1. 1. Sign in, or create a free account. It takes a name, an email address and a password.
  2. 2. Pay by card on the course page. The payment form is Stripe's own, so AURIS never sees or stores your card details.
  3. 3. The course opens straight away and stays in your library. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

A certificate is issued when you finish every lesson and pass the assessment.

Who this course is for

“Some days are fine and then one bad day undoes the week.”

Reactions run the day when nothing steadies them. Regulation is a practical skill, not a mood you wait for.

Where this course fits

Relevant pathways
This course is relevant to more than one pathway. Take it from whichever describes your situation: Life and Role Change, Purpose and What Next, Family and Belonging.
What usually comes before
Most people take Identity Foundations before this one, though nothing here requires it.
What usually comes next
Building Purpose is next in the Life and Role Change pathway. Rebuilds direction that does not depend on a job title.

Also relevant to Purpose and What Next and Family and Belonging, because the same learning answers more than one question.

This course can be taken together with other qualifying AURIS short courses as one bundle, priced by how many you choose. See how bundles work.

A pathway is a suggested order, not a requirement. Nothing here has to be bought to make this course work.

The pathways it belongs to

  • Part of the Life and Role Change pathway: Changed career, made redundant or retired, and you still do not feel like yourself?
  • Part of the Purpose and What Next pathway: Work gave you a purpose. What happens when it does not any more?
  • Part of the Family and Belonging pathway: Everyone asks how he is. Who asks how you are?

A pathway is a suggested order, not a requirement. This course can be taken on its own.

About this course

A paid course on how emotions work, the practical tools that help in the moment, and how to build long term regulation without pretending difficult feelings away.

What you will learn

  • Explain what emotions are for
  • Recognise your own patterns early
  • Use two regulation tools reliably
  • Build regulation that holds over months

Why this matters

Primary pillar: Regulation. This course builds Regulation by treating your reactions as a skill you practise, so a hard day is met with something rehearsed rather than something hoped for.

Course curriculum

4 lessons. The lesson content itself opens once you start the course.

  1. Lesson 1 · about 22 minutes

    How Emotions Work

Understand emotions as information and preparation for action, not faults to be removed.

    • Describe what emotions are for
    • Stop sorting emotions into good and bad
  2. Lesson 2 · about 22 minutes

    Recognising Your Patterns

Map your own early warning signs so regulation can happen before full intensity.

    • Map your own triggers
    • Catch escalation earlier
  3. Lesson 3 · about 22 minutes

    Tools That Actually Work

Practise three specific regulation tools, breathing, grounding and reappraisal, while calm, so they are available under pressure.

    • Use slow breathing and grounding correctly
    • Choose a tool to match the moment
  4. Lesson 4 · about 24 minutes

    Building Long-Term Regulation

Protect the basics, sleep, movement and contact, that make regulation possible at all, and plan for the days a tool fails.

    • Protect the basics that make regulation possible
    • Plan for the days a tool fails

Common questions

How much does Emotional Regulation cost?
It is £10 on its own, bought once and yours to keep. If it belongs to a pathway, the four paid courses on that pathway are £20 together, and the free course on that pathway stays free.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Finishing the course issues an AURIS Certificate of Completion in your name. It records your learning. It is not a qualification, accreditation or licence to practise, which is what the separate AURIS Practitioner Certification is for.
How long does it take, and is it self-paced?
It is self-paced. Once you enrol, every lesson is open, there is no deadline and nothing expires, and the course is designed to take about 90 minutes in total.
Do I need to do anything before this course?
Identity Foundations.
