Military Transition Support
Why leaving is harder than the paperwork suggests
People are trained, over years, into becoming someone who can hold a hard role under pressure. That training does its job well, and it fuses the role to the person. When the role ends or changes, what follows is not simply a change of employment. It is identity adaptation, and in the AURIS interviews it can surface years later, long after the resettlement courses and the new job are done.
This is why good employment support can be in place and something can still feel wrong. The question underneath is not what do I do next. It is who am I now.
What AURIS does about it
AURIS studies service provider identity across military, police, fire, ambulance and NHS roles, and turns what it finds into learning people can use. The research base is more than 108 in depth interviews. The findings are published openly, with DOIs, so anyone can read and cite them.
The learning follows five areas: awareness, understanding, regulation, identity and stability. AURIS is not therapy, not a medical service and not a crisis service.
